Board Meeting Summary

The Board met at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 7:30 pm. Below is a summary of some of the key issues discussed and resolved at the meeting.

Message from Treasurer

Dear Members,

This is an exciting time for our synagogue and community. Rabbis, committees and board members are hard at work putting together programming and structure to make our synagogue the well-run central part of the community we all wish it to be. As we emerge from our start-up phase, the DAT Minyan needs funds to ensure we meet the needs of the community. These funds will be used to pay for youth programming, our Rabbi’s salary, use of the facility and other essential costs.

DAT Women's Programming Meeting

There have been a number of women buzzing lately with great ideas for women's programming- some have suggested social gatherings, others have suggested social opportunities. We will have a planning meeting this Sunday night, October 29 at 7:00pm at the Berkowitz Caplan's at 179 Poplar St (across from the Lowry Library.) If you have any questions please call Amy at 303.365.9779. Sorry, this meeting is just for the women want to make this programming happen!

Looking for Shoppers!

The Kiddush and Shalosh Seudot committee is looking for help with shopping. If you can help once a week, once every other week, once a month - or even once! - please contact Fran Heller or Ted Brandt.

Thank you for the Sukkah

Thank you to the donor/underwriter of our shul's sukkah and to the following individuals who helped to construct it this week: Margaret Schwartz, Peter Schwartz, Hyiam Reiffman, Ilan Caplan, John Webber, David Slamowitz, Ralph Friedman, and Glenn Zazulia.

The sukkah is available for the wider community to use and will be open through all of Sukkot.

Semi-annual Membership Meeting

The next regularly scheduled general membership meeting of the DAT Minyan will take place at 8:45 A.M. on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at DAT.

Shul Staff & Volunteer Contact Information

As our shul continues to grow and with more people getting involved, this seems like a good time to remind everyone that we have an up-to-date "Contact Information" page on the website (http://DATMinyan.org/contacts -- this link is in the "Shul Info Pages" section of the site sidebar).  You can find Rabbi Hess' new email address there, along with other useful information about the current board & committee chairs, etc.

High Holidays

Dear Partners,

With the beginning of the month of Elul, our thoughts begin to turn towards teshuva (repentance) and cheshbon hanefesh (self reflection). There is also a tremendous amount of work that is required in order to create a spiritual and meaningful High Holiday atmosphere for our community. I am very appreciative to all those who have volunteered to serve on committees that have been working hard in preparing our Shul for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

I would like to briefly address and explain one of the difficult deliberations that the High Holidays committee spent a significant amount of time on, and debated for hours until they finally came to agreement.

High Holidays Committee

Believe it or not, but the High Holidays are fast approaching. Accordingly, the board has formed a High Holidays committee. Noah Makovsky and Cheryl Miller are co-chairing the committee. The committee members include: Amy Berkowitz Caplan, Dovid Friedman, Scott Friedman, and Fran Heller. The committee is very excited and is looking forward to a meaningful High Holidays. Information about seating, adult enrichment classes, children's programming, and the Yizkor booklet will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. As the process moves forward, please feel free to contact any of the committee members with thoughts, suggestions, and ideas.

New Laining Mailing List

A new mailing list has been established to help facilitate the scheduling and organization of the regular Shabbos Torah laining. If you are interested in participating, you may subscribe yourself to the list at DATMinyan.org/mailman/listinfo/laining.
