Rabbi Shatz’s topics over Shabbat will be centered upon the thoughts and philosophy of Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik zt’l, one of the foremost leaders of Modern Orthodoxy in America
David Shatz is Professor of Philosophy at Yeshiva University, editor of The Torah u-Madda Journal, and series editor of MeOtzar HoRav: Selected Essays of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. He has edited or authored twelve books and has published over sixty articles and reviews, dealing with both general and Jewish philosophy. Dr. Shatz, who was valedictorian of his Yeshiva College class, received semikhah from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and his Ph.D with distinction from Columbia University. A former winner in the John Templeton Foundation Course Competition in Science and Religion, he will be featured in eight episodes of a PBS television series devoted to issues in religion, philosophy and science. He is a member of the Orthodox Forum Steering Committee, a board member of the Orthodox Caucus, a member of the Editorial Board of Tradition, and a Fellow of the Academy for Jewish Philosophy.
