To All Members,
One of the priorities for the DATminyan has been to encourage our youth to come to shul in an educational and enjoyable environment. Unfortunately, it has become more difficult for existing programs led by Carolyn Reiffman to continue to operate in a safe and effective manner because of a lack of available adult supervision. Additionally, Carolyn will be leaving her role at the beginning of June (We will thank her more formally for her dedication and wonderful work with the children at a later time!). In order to fill the critical immediate need, the minyan will be hiring adult “baby sitters” to provide additional adult supervision in conjunction with Carolyn and our present teenage leaders as soon as possible. However, we will still need additional supervision for the pre-k and K- 2nd grade classes as well as some talented volunteers willing to run an educational program for children 3rd grade and up. Therefore, I am asking all adult members (this includes males and non-parents) to volunteer as supervisors of the children’s program for 1 hour on shabbos mornings starting after the Pesach holidays. A sign up sheet will be sent out in order to facilitate this and you may be approached personally if slots are still open. The board also recognizes the need to develop a more comprehensive and structured approach and will be working on developing a more permanent plan and identifying a youth director who can implement it when Carolyn leaves.
Wishing Everyone a Chag Kasher V’Sameach,
Nathan
