YU Kollel Thanks

I would like to thank you for helping host the Yeshiva University Kollel members for the last two weeks at Dat. They enjoyed the opportunity to spend time at the shul, and perhaps more importantly, they enjoyed the wonderful experince and the people that they interacted with and all other general events and Shiurim that took place. By spending time with the Dat Family and community members, the students of the Kollel became exposed to Jewish life outside of the New York area, and were provided with the opportunity to interact with local community members who serve as a paradigm for communal hospitality and leadership. As the Second Mishna in Perkei Avos says
שמעון הצדיק היה משיירי אנשי כנסת הגדולה הוא היה אומר על שלושה דברים העולם עומד על התורה ועל העבודה ועל גמילות החסדים Shimon the Righteous was one of the last survivors of the Great Assembly. He used to say: On three things the world is sustained: on the Torah, on the (Temple) service, and on deeds of loving kindness. I heard recently a very nice explanation for this which is that really these three aren't separate acts that keep the world sustained, but rather that that it's one big act that helps sustain. This is to say that all three are needed together in order to work. Without Hochnasas Orchiam and Gemilas Chasadim, the learning couldn't even come to exsist and as well the service of God. The same is true with any one of the three they cant last without the other two. The Dat family has provided one of the three steps and a very integral part of this Mishna in PerkeI Avos, We hope that together we can accomplish the other two steps, in order to make this world a better place to live in. On Behalf of the Yeshiva University Summer Kollel in Denver, I would like to thank you once again for hosting the boys and going way beyond the call of duty to make them feel so welcome into the community. I would like to also thank you for all the time and effort that was put into every event to make it so successfull. Finally I would like to thank the Dat community for the Financial Support and for participating in this important initiative. May this be just a start for such beautifull events and a contiuation of what makes Dat the special place it is.
Sincerely, Shlomo Fried
