Dr. Gafni will be our Scholar In Reisdence this weekend
Dr. Isaiah M. Gafni is the Sol Rosenbloom Professor of Jewish History at the Hebrew University. Dr. Gafni was born in New York City, and moved to Israel in 1958, where he received all his professional training. Dr. Gafni has taught at the Hebrew University for forty years, while also serving as Visiting Professor at numerous universities abroad, among them Harvard, Yale and Brown.

On Thursday night we have partnered with the Center for Judaic Studies at DU and Dr. Gafni will be giving a lecture (time & location TBD) entitled, "How Babylonia became 'Zion' - On Center-Diapora Relations in the Rabbinic Period".
On Shabbat Morning, Dr. Gafni’s lecture is entitled, “From Jerusalem to Yavne: The Success of Rabbinic Judaism”
On Shabbat Afternoon we will do a text-study with Dr. Gafni entitled: “Insiders and Outsiders in the World of Torah: On Rabbinic Self-Criticism.”
On Motzei Shabbat (time & location TBD) the lecture is entitled, “The Use (and Misuse) of Ancient History in Modern Israel.”
