Good Monday Morning, DAT Minyan Community!

Here are today's update:

  1. MA’OT CHITIM DEADLINE: The deadline to make contributions to the needy I our community for Pesach is THIS FRIDAY at 2:00 pm. I want to be able to distribute the funds on Sunday, so we must close out the link on the website.
  1. HALACHA FAQ PART 2: I am sharing some choice Halachic Q & A from from Rabbi Tzvi Steinberg, Av Beit Din of the Denver Beit Din and Rav of Congregation Zera Abraham:

When saying Kiddush Levana alone (this Sat night) should I say “Sholom Aleichem”?

Yes, and if one person is with you, you can say Sholom Aleichem to him three times.

May I use hand sanitizer on Shabbos?

Yes, with the understanding that it quickly evaporates and leaves no coating upon the skin.

May I use liquid hand soap on Shabbos?

If it is thick, add some water in the hand before lathering so that it will not create a coating upon the skin.

What should I do if I forget to make an Eruv Tavshilin on Erev Pesach?

Don’t forget.

But what if I do?

If you remember on Thursday, then you can make an Eruv Tavshilin without a bracha, and state that you are only placing the Eruv Tavshilin in consideration that Friday is Yom Tov.

On Erev Pesach, it is better to light before Shkiah or after nightfall on Yom Tov?

Either is fine, but there is an advantage to light on Yom Tov in order to recite the “SheHecheyanu” Bracha during the time that the Mitzvot of Matzah and Marror apply. In any case, one who recites “SheHecheynu” when lighting candles does not repeat the “SheHecheyanu” Bracha at Kiddush. One who lit prior to nighttime should try at Kiddush to answer Amen to the “SheHecheyanu” made by another, having in mind the Mitzvot of the Yom Tov.
