Erev Shabbat Kodesh, DAT Minyan Community!

Here are today’s updates:

  1. LETTER FROM DENVER ORTHODOX SYNAGOGUE RABBIS: Please read the letter, issued today, by all the Orthodox Synagogue rabbis in Denver:

23 Nissan 5780 / April 17, 2020

Dear Friends,

We hope and trust that this letter finds you and your family in good health.

This letter follows our previous one dated March 24, 2020 in which we urged all to absolutely refrain from inviting any out-of-town guests. We also stated that if any have received permission from any of us to invite guests, we hereby rescind that permission. Please continue to abide by this.

In order for this terrible disease to continue to plateau and start reversing, we need to keep social distancing and limiting travel from other cities to Denver especially from areas that have unfortunately experienced high rates of infections.

As the Yom Tov comes to an end, we wish to reiterate that should anyone have traveled away, please do not return to one of our communities without speaking to us. As is communicated by health officials and our trusted medical experts, this is a matter of pikuach nefesh - life and death. We urge everyone, including all single children who have returned home, to adhere to mandated guidelines, including most significantly quarantining for 14 days if one has had any exposure to the virus.

As we pledge to abide by these directives, we must also maintain respect of those around us and commit that should we observe other practicing laxity in these areas, we will not reprove them directly, but rather contact our Rabbi to intervene. With our earnest blessing for good health for you, your families and for all the Jewish people, and with our heartfelt prayer that we all soon experience the final redemption, we remain,

  1. MILITARY ORDERS: As I shared with our president, Mark Raphaely, effective today, I have been mobilized under federal orders to support the Colorado COVID-19 Response. The orders are for a minimum of 31 days. This should not inhibit my ability to lead our Virtual (non)Minyan, or to answer questions, emails, etc. However, I may not be able to respond immediately, so I ask for your patience. Thank you in advance.
  2. TODAY’S SCHEDULE: I will be delivering the Shabbat Derasha at 6:30 pm, followed by Mincha, Tehillim for the Sick, and Kabbalt Shabbat. Candle Lighting is at 7:23 pm. Notes of condolence to Shirley and her family may be sent to her at shirley_friedman@hotmail.com. Shirley can also be reached at 914-391-2152.
